The foam pre-filter is really simple to install, and easy to maintain. When it is time to empty the dirt canister, we simply wash the foam pre-filter with soap and warm water and it is good as new. TotalVac has the most competitive pricing available for

You can use this vacuum without this part, but it is probably going to shorten the life of the expensive main filter considerably
